Is Sunday a Day of Rest for You?
Sunday has become anything but a day of rest for most people. It’s now the catch-up day to do everything you didn’t get done during the week.
I remember the days when stores were closed on Sundays, and about the only businesses open were gas stations and restaurants.
It was a day to go to church, have large family meals, talk with your neighbors, and just relax.
It’s ironic that we took advantage of a day of rest when life was slow and easy. Now, life is hectic and moving at the speed of light, yet no one has time to stop and rest.
Exodus 20:8,9 says, “Remember to keep the Sabbath (our Sunday) holy. Work and get everything done during the six days each week, but the seventh day is a day of rest to honor the Lord your God.”
I wonder how much of the stress and disease today is due in part to our body being overworked. Unfortunately, it often takes sickness to get some people to slow down.
Take time today to relax your mind, body, and spirit. It’s a great way to start your week.
